HUNGER

Tyus brought six artists to Italy to develop Hunger, a new ensemble work exploring sexuality and relationships through movement. The work examines the primitive impulses that exist beneath intimacy, moving between pleasure and pain, power and submission, and the desire to consume and be consumed.

Mike Tyus was selected for Orsolina28’s inaugural Call for Creation, an initiative founded to support emerging choreographers in developing ambitious new work through an immersive residency in Moncalvo, Italy.

Selected by Simony Monteiro, Founder + Artistic Director of Orsolina28, and Mario Alberto Zambrano,

The residency culminated in a public presentation on Orsolina28’s Open Air Stage, establishing an ongoing relationship between Tyus and the international arts center.
