LIVE ARTS MIAMI × SUPERBLUE
Commissioned by Live Arts Miami, Mike Tyus and Luca Renzi created a series of site-specific works inside Superblue Miami, placing choreography in direct conversation with large-scale immersive installations by teamLab and Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. Across live performance and film, the project explored how the human body could inhabit, disrupt, and become part of responsive environments built from light, projection, technology, and sensation.
TEAMLAB
Created inside teamLab’s immersive digital environment Every Wall is a Door, this large-scale ensemble work brought twelve dancers into a constantly shifting landscape of projected light, water, flowers, and digital ecosystems. The installation responds to the presence and movement of visitors, allowing the choreography and artwork to continually affect one another.
Rather than using the installation as a backdrop, Tyus and Renzi created choreography that became another moving system within it: bodies appearing, disappearing, gathering, and transforming alongside the digital environment.

AORTA
Aorta is a duet created and performed by Mike Tyus and Luca Renzi inside Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s Pulse Topology, an immersive installation composed of thousands of suspended light bulbs animated by recorded human heartbeats.
Set within this field of pulsing light, the duet places two bodies inside a larger architecture of human rhythms. Intimacy, physical dependence, weight, and connection unfold against an environment literally illuminated by the biological traces of others.

SOURCE
Source extends the collaboration with Rafael Lozano-Hemmer’s Pulse Topology into film. Created within the installation’s constellation of suspended lights and recorded heartbeats, the work uses choreography and cinema to examine the body as both an individual organism and part of a larger collective system.
Moving between darkness, illumination, proximity, and scale, Source transforms the installation into a cinematic environment in which movement, light, architecture, and the camera become inseparable.
