GRACE VANDERWAAL — CHILDSTAR
Mike Tyus joined the creative team behind Grace VanderWaal’s CHILDSTAR, assisting choreographer Luca Francesco Renzi in the development and staging of movement for Grace’s live performances.
CHILDSTAR marked a striking evolution in VanderWaal’s visual and performance language, using contemporary movement and physical storytelling to explore identity, vulnerability, control, and the complicated experience of growing up in the public eye. The project extended from the album’s cinematic world into live performance, culminating in VanderWaal’s return to headline touring.
Working alongside Renzi, Tyus helped develop and realize choreographic material for the stage, supporting a movement language built specifically around Grace’s distinctive physicality and performance presence.
